We still have some last minute opening at the tropical breeze and unit 10 for February

December 2010

Units 3,4,5,7,9,10,11,12,14 have new Memory foam beds,
unit 10 has a new kitchen, remodel living room and updated bedroom

Unit 22 kitchen has been remodel

OCTOBER

Beaches are still beautiful, water still warm and the weather has been great.

Due to recent cancellation, We now have a gulf front 1 bedroom open for the month of October.

we are now written all our Winter customers and have requested the 35% deposit be mailed at this time to reconfirm their reservations.

unit 8 now has a 37 inch flat screen TV in the bedroom and a 42 inch TV in the living room.

SEPTEMBER

we have placed new King size memory foam beds in units 1,2,6,8, and 10. Unit 7 has a new queen sized memory foam bed.

we have just finished remodeling the kitchens in unit 21 and 23.

unit number 9A has had its kitchen remodel.

White Sands is about to go live with a booking engine.  You will be able to book rooms in week increments on line Saturday to Saturday, All other reservation must call the office from 9:30 to 5 pm to Book Rooms

Our heart go out to the families effected from the oil spill ,it make me sick to see the lack of response to the deviation to Louisiana wetlands, fish communities. Our Government need to get involved and start some massive keep up and preventative measures and instead just blaming BP.

Still picking  Building colors maybe green and yellow , tan an yellow, or burn orange and cream. To many chiefs and not enough Indians. Watch BP oil spill  not happy with the government and BP response. Blame each other and not fix the problem.

Should reduces usage by 70%

All light have been change to Fluorescent  from incandescent  when ever possible.

we have a towel exchange were dirty towels get washed program to reduce wasteful washing on clean towels

Ivan / God Spare Us and Anna Maria Island once again. We had some High water came close to building and a 10 mile an hour wind.  we sustain no damage ,water has receded  and beach is fine.  9/18/04  Tampa, St Pete ,Bradenton, Anna Maria Island , Longboat Key And Sarasota are all fine looks like nothing has happened. If you were diving into any of these town you would have never known that there had been a storm nearby.

A Wedding to Remember  the day before Ivan was passing the Island the Sky's clear and 2 of our guest had there beautiful Island Wedding on the Beach at the White Sands. A had a honeymoon on a almost deserted island.

After Hurricane Charlie -Anna Maria Island Safe

Changes direction and spares Anna Maria Island form the brunt of the storm. Looks like we dodge a bullet a big bullet. unfortunately it was not so kind to Sanibel Island and Naples. We have had to evacuate the island and are not yet able to return. Looks like It will be Saturday afternoon before we survey the property for damage. People who have Reservation can call us on our cell phone on Saturday to see when the Island will open back up for tourist. You reach us at 518-4029 or 518-4044 for emergencies. You can also call the Holmes beach police department to find updates. Our main phone is not in-service do to the fact we had to turn the power of when we evacuated. Thank you for your prayer and support.

Last week we had a manatee and a pod of 9 Dolphins go by  both were a petty neat site dolphins are common  but not in such a large group. Manatee are seen a lot on the bay side but not so frequently on the Gulf Side of the Island.

We  have a turtle nest in front of our place due to hatch this month "End of July"  .

The Waterfront restaurant had a fire and is closed for the next couple of months.

Island plantations resort is close they have demolished it and are in the process of building 11 luxury condos. also so part of the Econolodge is being turn into condos.

1.) What's new?  

White Sands Gets a face lift. Property has gone thought major update.

Unit #14 has been tile and bath room has been redone.
Unit #3 has been tiled

 Unit 21 has had it bath room remodeled, units #8 and #9a  and #2 have been tile and units 2 & 8  also had it bath room remodeled. 

Pool  now  has a aluminum fence on htree side and   PVC Fence forth side, Both Properties have been painted inside and out, decorative stone and stone borders are place around property,
Columns have been places along walk way. Room get updates with new lighting and  all room now have wash wicker and rattan and fresh coat of paint. More to come when faze 5 is complete.  Pool deck will be enlarge , painted and fenced in.

 Rooms 1,2,4,5,7,8,9a, 10,11,12,14,22,23,24,25 & 26 are now or will be non smoking in 2004.   Smoker may also use non smoking room as long as they smoke outside. There will be a 200 charge for smoking in a non smoking room and removal.

We Have also Shot a video of the property for the Chamber of Commerce and our website , Check out part of the video on our website at http://www.2fla.com/wsr/video.htm We have Video CD's as a souvenir.  Who know you might see us on a TV station near you.

 ISLAND TROLLEY               

The FREE trolley service will begin a regular schedule starting March 23. Hours of operation: 6 AM to 10:30 PM, running every 20 minutes, 7 days a week on Anna Maria Island. The FREE trolley, with air conditioned area, as well as open-air seating, with wheel chair lifts and bike rack, will shuttle visitors and residents daily around the island, with connecting service to MCAT.

The beach restoration is now complete

 For the shell lovers this is a great time to fine sharks teeth and may be even some old relics like musket balls , you never know. Our beaches previously renourishment about 10 years ago .  renourishment pictures on our Website. Stay tune

Sun House has replaced J.R Englanders on Bridge street.

Chez's Italian restaurant Closed

We now have a Peaches restaurant on near shells Restaurant. 

Duffy's
new location across  from the  City Hall  of Homes Beach is doing well..

ATO's has sold and is now The Waterfront restaurant it has good fishing chips.  The specials Run from about 8.95 the normal prices a round 12 to 15 dollars

 The rod and real fishing pier now has has taken over the Anna Maria Island historical oyster bar and pier restaurant on it and is supposed to have really great grouper according to some of our customers they will be reopening historical city pier. Anew little restaurant has open near the post office called hurricane hanks good lunches also has a bar.

Eckerd's drugstore moved in built a new place on the corner of manatee Avenue and East Bay Drive next to the Public's. Chamber of Commerce has move in to the Old Remolded  Eckerd's Building

The property next-door is finished . Condos are for sale 1,600,000 to 2,400,000 a piece.

Turtle season

Turtle season start  June 1st so please keep her lights off and do not disturb any nesting turtles on the beach at night. There'll season ends  early October.
