Anna Maria Island Florida Vacation

Located on Florida's Renowned West Coast, Seven-mile long Anna Maria Island is situated just south of Tampa Bay and is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico on its western shore and Sarasota Bay and Anna Maria Bay on its eastern shores. It is the northernmost of a string of barrier islands that extend in a southerly direction to the Florida Keys.

The island's three cities (Anna Maria at the northern end, Holmes Beach in the middle and Bradenton Beach at the southern end) are easily accessed by three draw bridges -- one for Longboat key to the south and two from the mainland which lie off the Island's eastern shore across from Sarasota Bay and the Intercostals Waterway. The northernmost entry to the island is from Bradenton via SR 64 -- a cross-Florida link which runs almost to the state's Atlantic coast.

With its temperate year-round weather, Anna Maria island has truly become "My Island In The Sun" for not only visitors but year-round residents. They have willingly surrendered their days to being entranced by the warm lapping waters and sugar soft sandy beaches.

Anna Maria Island, just a little bit of paradise....

Located on the west coast of Florida, Anna Maria Island is the barrier between the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay. This aerial view shows the island from the north. You can see our white sand gulf beaches.

Anna Maria Island is comprised of three very unique and different cities, Anna Maria City - which is mainly residential, Holmes Beach - which is both residential and business oriented, and Bradenton Beach - which is residential and tourist oriented. All three cities have wonderful restaurants, shopping, and both gulf and bay front beaches. Anna Maria Island is 8 miles west of the city of Bradenton, connected by the Manatee and the Cortez bridges.
